These terms explain how bookings, payments, cancellations and your stay work at Avatar Yoga School. Please read them before you pay a booking advance, and ask us if anything is unclear.
In short: your seat is confirmed when you pay the booking advance and we confirm it in writing. Cancellation and refund terms depend on how early you tell us. You are responsible for your health, insurance and visa, and we are responsible for teaching and looking after you well.
These terms and conditions apply when you use this website, send an enquiry, book a course, retreat or other program, or stay at Avatar Yoga School, Near Omkar Cafe, Swargashram, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. By making a booking or paying a booking advance, you confirm that you have read and accepted them, together with our privacy policy and disclaimer.
We write in plain language, and we are happy to explain any point before you book.
An enquiry is not a booking. After you send an enquiry, we reply with the dates, fees and inclusions for your course. Your seat is reserved when you have paid the booking advance and we have confirmed it to you in writing, by email or WhatsApp.
Seats are limited and are given in the order that bookings are confirmed. Please give us accurate details, because we rely on them for your stay, your certificate and your safety.
The fee for your course is the fee confirmed to you in writing at the time of booking. It is quoted in [USD / INR] and usually covers tuition, accommodation, vegetarian meals, course materials and your certificate. Flights, visas, travel insurance, personal expenses and optional trips are extra unless we say otherwise.
The booking advance of [add amount or percentage] secures your seat. The balance is due [add: on arrival / before the start date]. Payments are made through the methods shown on our payment page, and any bank or gateway charges are your responsibility unless we agree otherwise.
If you cancel, please tell us in writing as early as you can. Refunds depend on how much notice you give before the start date of your course:

Refunds, where due, are paid to the original payment method, minus any bank or gateway charges, within [add days] days.
We may need to change a start date, a teacher or a schedule, or to cancel a batch, for example if too few students enrol or for reasons outside our control. If we cancel your batch, we will offer you a place on another batch or a full refund of the fees you have paid to us. We are not responsible for flights, visas or other costs that you have booked yourself, so please keep your travel plans flexible until your seat is confirmed.
You may ask to move to another batch or course. We will try to help, depending on availability and on [add conditions, for example notice period and one transfer only]. A transfer is not guaranteed, and a price difference may apply.
Our courses are for adults aged 18 and over. Some courses have prerequisites. For example, the 300 hour course needs a 200 hour yoga teacher training certificate, and we may ask to see it. Please tell us if you do not meet a requirement, and we will suggest a suitable course.
You must be in a fit enough state of health to take part, and you must tell us about any injury, medical condition, pregnancy, allergy or medication before you arrive. If you give us wrong or incomplete information, we may adapt or limit your participation. Yoga practice carries a risk of injury, and you take part at your own risk, as explained in our disclaimer.
We strongly advise you to have travel and medical insurance for your whole stay. You are responsible for your own medical costs.
You are responsible for your passport, visa, flights, vaccinations and any other travel requirements. We can send you a letter confirming your booking on request, but we cannot guarantee that a visa will be granted. A visa refusal does not entitle you to a refund beyond what the cancellation terms above provide.
To receive a certificate, you must attend the required classes, take part in the practice teaching and complete the assessments for your course. If you miss a class, speak to your teacher about how to make it up. We may withhold or delay a certificate if the requirements are not met. The certificate you receive depends on your course, as explained on its page and in our disclaimer.
We ask every student to treat teachers, staff and other students with respect, to keep quiet hours, to follow the daily schedule and to look after the school property. Please do not bring or use illegal drugs, and follow the other rules that we share when you arrive [add rules on alcohol, smoking and guests].
If a student seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, or puts others at risk, we may ask them to leave the school. In that case, [add refund position].
Rooms are private or shared, as you have booked. Please look after your belongings and keep valuables locked up. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items, and you are responsible for any damage that you cause to the rooms or to the school property.
We take photos and videos of classes and events and may use them to promote the school, as explained in our privacy policy. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed, please tell us when you arrive. Please do not record classes or other students without permission.
Course manuals, notes, videos, sequences and other materials belong to Avatar Yoga School or to their creators. You may use them for your own learning and teaching, but you may not copy, sell or share them without our written permission.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our responsibility to you is limited to the fees that you have paid for the course. We are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost income, or for events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
We are not responsible for a delay or failure to provide a course because of events outside our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, floods or landslides, extreme weather, road closures, epidemics, government orders, strikes or power and network failures. In such cases we will offer you a new date or a fair refund, as described in the section on changes by the school.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. We hope to resolve any problem through a friendly conversation first, so please write to us. Any dispute that we cannot settle will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at [add city, for example Dehradun or Rishikesh], Uttarakhand, India, unless the law gives you the right to go elsewhere.
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to you are the ones in force on the date of your booking. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed.
